August 4      Tanya Wyatt will be at the SHELBY SENIOR CENTER to offer disability outreach.

August 9      at the WATERFORD site, Cecelia Otten from St. John’s Hospital will be speaking on “arthritis”. She has spoken at other sites and it’s been a big hit! Highly recommended. 

    August 26       at 11 a.m. a Ferndale bus will take a group of Seniors to the Mongolian Buffet in Warren for an Oriental ( & American) luncheon. Over 200 items are offered to choose from! The cost is $9.54, which includes beverage and tax. The bus will return at 1:30 p.m. Contact Monalee Ferrero or call 248-473-1875 (videophone) for details or to reserve your spot!

August 27 & 28       “Black Sand” is an ASL film playing at Madonna University (36600 Schoolcraft St.) at 7 p.m. on Aug. 27 and Aug. 28. On the 27th, it will be presented at Kresge Hall. On the 28th it will be at the Franciscan Center, Room S100. There is an $11 admission fee, but the net proceeds benefit Deaf Arts Festival. For more information, e-mail dafrosey@gmail.com

September 8      It is Senior Day at the Detroit Zoo! Anyone of ages 62 or older gets into the zoo for free on this day, and the Ferndale Deaf Senior group is taking a bus to make a trip of it together. The bus will depart at 9:45 a.m. from the Gerry Kulick Community Center. The bus fare is $5 per person and you must register in office.       September 23       If you like to bowl, come and join us for a friendly competition at Luxury Lanes on 9 mile in Ferndale. The bus departs at 9:45 a.m. and will return to Kulick Center around 2 p.m. The cost per person is $10, and that includes transportation, three games of bowling and shoe rental. What a deal!  It doesn’t matter if you’re a pro or a beginner… all are welcome! Lunch is “on-your-own” at the snack bar, but you get free coffee and/or pop with your lunch purchase.  PLEASE LET MONALEE KNOW IF YOU PLAN TO ATTEND! Call for more information at 248-473-1888
